I thought I would dedicate this blog post to my cous, Redneck NerdBoy His blog is hysterical (hey cous… I would read it even if you weren’t my cous).
Unfortunately I did not get the writing genes he has but hey… we both like beer. Well actually I like wine and tequila but he likes beer!
To backtrack just a little, our Mom’s are not only “Sistas” but fabulous friends.
I think we were all pretty nerdy but it was not our faults…. It was the “Sistas” that made us nerdy (seriously my mom made me wear Mork & Mindy suspenders).
I lived in the South, Redneck lived in the west and 3 days by car. When we would visit, I can remember stories of us as kids. While I won’t go into detail, I can summarize some of the stories into headlines:
Thou Shall Not Go Outside the Fence
Bigfoot
Coyotes
If memory serves, Enormous Wild Boar (It was probably a pig, but I remember it being more like a boar with those thingy’s …. tusks?)
Since we lived so far away from each other, the “Sistas” would write to each other every chance they could always including a duplicate of every picture they took of us as kids, making sure to novel long descriptions on the back of each photo.
So… along with this post, I’d like to share a glimpse of “Redneck’s Younger Years” because they are freaking hysterical. So now we are all grown up. This Thanksgiving I am thankful for my Cous. He’s talented, fun, cute and all grown up with a beautiful wife and daughter. I love getting to stay in touch through this whole blogging thing. You… uh hem, We, turned out great! Here’s a link to his book “Empty Spaces” on Amazon.com.

I enjoy reading both of your blogs...funny cousins :)
g.
(btw..thanks for your kind comments...much better here)
Oh, now I'm all red!
[blushing furiously]
Gina's right. Dang, looking at these pics... I haven't changed a drop! I feel so... statutory rapesque.
I love you Cousin. You're the coolest! And that lawnmower pic must be where I got my love of tractors!
R.N. gave me your link... Love this!! I always wondered what he looked like as a kid...lol He really hasn't changed a whole lot, has he?
It's too bad I have nothing on you Cous. Momma kept all your pictures, complete with novels written on the back. Dang.
that is HIM! wow... interesting that he still looks pretty much the same...
except now he has glasses.
Back from the Thanksgiving festivities finally...
Hey Gina - Glad you are feeling better girl!
Jas...red's your color. That lawnmower picture is a classic. It still makes me chuckle.
Simply A: Jas reminds me of the guy from the Breakfast Club, Anthony Michael Hall. He resembles those old pictures but he's definately grown into his looks (this is a good thing jas)
Jas - I'll have to post a few of me at some point in time. Of course I will TRY to pick embarrasing ones. I did have to go to mom's house to dig through MANY pictures to get those rare beauty's. She wants to know what they are for. I told her the kids are doing a family project :I
Melanie... i really should have posted some of the others, but he would have killed me. ROFL.
[Gasp!]
What others???
I was young. I needed the work!
