Ball, tattoos, and ACL's Oh My ...

Everyone I know seems to have a tatoo. I have been thinking about it for a year now. I thought about getting one in Cancun, but I just wasn't sure. They say it needs to be something that means something to you. Well, I now know what tattoo I am going to get. Are you ready for this one ? A.C.L.

Friday Night... I am playing softball. This is our last game of the summer season and the entire company is here cheering us on. Great game so far (I play First Base). Hit great. We are winning. My boss is sitting in the stands with a blue and white PomPom. Go Opti-Mystics! I am up to bat. I hear Doug, our coach say "Stacy, I need you on. I need your speed." I am feeling the music in my head from "Top Gun." I am in the moment.

I hit. Great hit... "Go Two, Go Two" I hear. I round second and come off just a little. I see outfield throw the ball in... okay I got a double. Perk is up to bat behind me. (Our number 4 hitter). I am on second and Doug our coach is telling me "2 outs Stacy, get here." Mike hits on the ground to the left fielder. I am coming into third and I see the ball out of my right eye - I come into the bag, my knee locks and he tries to get me, but I'm on, "SAFE" and POP. My knee buckles and I fall to the ground. I think I just broke my leg. The Pop was my knee but I did not even hit it into anything. What the hell? I am floundering around on the ground like a fish trying to get air. I can't get up. It's the worse pain I've ever felt in my whole life. What is wrong with my leg? I end up having to be CARRIED off the field. Not only am I in pain but completely mortified. The whole freaking company is here.

Well .. that was Friday. Spent Saturday in the hospital. Today is Wednesday. After X-rays, MRI's, painkillers, crutches, knee braces, and ice.... it's conclusive. I'VE TORN MY ACL IN HALF. I spent yesterday getting my knee drained and crying because they just told me I won't be playing ball for at least a year and that is only if the surgery goes well and I do all the physical therapy. Fall Ball starts this Friday night.

So my tattoo? A.C.L. I just can't believe it. Where the hell am I going to put this tattoo anyway? I need more ice.
